Dale Fortney currently works as a cold case homicide investigator at a County Prosecutor’s Office. He retired after 25 years in police work as a Police Lieutenant, having served assignments in patrol, training, the detective bureau, a drug task force and the SWAT team commander/trainer. He has logged over Fifteen Hundred Hours of Tactical Training including such Courses as Miami Metro-Dade Special Response Team; H&K MP-5 Basic, MP-5 Advanced, MP-5 Instructor, Dynamic Clearing, Counter Sniper; Mid-South Institute of Self Defense Shooting Practical Pistol, Intermediate Pistol; OPOTA Tactical Counter Sniper and the FBI Sniper/Observer.

Dale is a also a veteran of 26 years in the armed forces including 20 years in the United States Army Special Forces in the Reserves and National Guard where he served as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant and Special Forces Operations Sergeant. His military education includes Basic Non-commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-commissioned Officers Course, Basic Airborne Course, Special Forces Qualification Course and the National Guard Anti-Terrorism Course). His awards include the Special Forces Tab, Expert Infantry Badge, Army Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Non-commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, British Airborne Wings, Canadian Airborne Wings, and Belgian Airborne Wings. He has instructed weapons and tactical subjects to U.S. and foreign military personnel both in the United States and in foreign countries. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Dale holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from Tiffin University. He is a former college professor and program director in Criminal Justice at North Central State College having taught nearly every college course and police academy class within the curriculum.
